Transparent
mostly to the user, and highly integrated with the Collection Manager and the Chat Client,
this module is responsible of the actual transfer of the files, usign a propietary, secure
protocol.
The Client:
As soon as a user has given us permission to Access his server, All
lists belonging to that user are Activated. Two new tabs appear in the List
window: Download and Upload. We can select any
files from either the Files tab or the Missing tab and add them to the
Download list. When there are files in the Download List, the File Client connects
to the remote user's server and starts retrieving the files. In the same way,
we can Upload files to the remote user selecting them from the Missed tab.
From the Chat window, we can also send files to any user in our same chat
room, by just selecting the user and pressing the right mouse button (context menu),
activating the Send File option.
The Server
As soon as we connect to Filetopia, the File server is
activated. For a user to connect, two conditions need to be met: The user must have
our permission to access our files. This permission is either explicit -when he
asked- or implicit -if he's in our friends lists- and the other condition is that the user
is not in our ban or ignore list.
We can monitor all the transfers taking place in the File Server
window, being able to abort any transfer or kick/ban any user from our server.
