| About this Beta
The Client software is contained in an auto-installable
.EXE file, you just have to download it into any directory, and
run it from there.
If you want to keep your settings
(nick, friends, messages, etc), it is recommended to install it
in the same directory of the original.
About the Beta Testing Procedure
Remember that you are a Beta Tester, this
means you should help us debug and improve Filetopia.
Also remember that this is beta software,
which means that it contains bugs -actually, all complex piece of software contains bugs-.
When you find something that you consider a bug this is what you should do:
- Try to find the steps neccesary that
consistently reproduce the bug.
- If any developer is online (in channel
'BetaCity') send a copy of the file: Filetopia.log which is in your
filetopia directory. You should delete this file frequently so it does not grow too
large. In case the file is very large, you could just open it (it is an ASCII file)
and copy the last 100 lines or so and send just that.
- If the bug is in the Transfer protocol -most
likely- it would be very interesting to have the other user's log file too.
- In case there is
no developer online in BetaCity, you should mail both the .log
file, the description of the bug and the steps to reproduce it
to: tech@filetopia.com
Suggestions of interesting features and
usability improvements are welcome too.
Specially important for us are any security
issues you might find.
